Day 299: We All Have Writing Deadlines …

Since faculty members have nine-month contracts, WVU Law offers the Arthur B. Hodges Summer Research Grant for faculty members to pursue research and writing during the summer months. Approval for a subsequent Hodges Grant depends on demonstrating completion of goals for the previous year’s grant.

Artie has really been feeling the deadline crunch

In 2023, I pledged to complete a substantial portion of my biography of a State Department official who wrote or implemented many of our early immigration laws. After a year of research and writing, I’m now busily drafting the last chapter of Part One to submit along with my application for a Summer 2024 Hodges Grant.

For 2024, I plan to write an article about teaching entrepreneurship to law students!
