365 Days of Disruption
Day 6: My So-Called Legal Education
Llewellyn’s dissatisfaction with legal education in 1935 is palpable in this talk. What strikes me is how many of his indictments of and challenges to legal education I still find valid today.
Day 5: The Role of the Lawyer in 2050
We don’t know what the future will look like, but we know for sure is that AI will radically change information processing, and therefore lawyering. What will the role of the lawyer be when my students are my age? There’s no way to know - but there is a way to prepare.
Day 4: Happy 4th of July! plus a bonus
a year doesn’t actually have exactly 365 days in it. It’s a convention we’ve agreed upon for our mutual convenience. Conventions are only valuable until they’re not valuable, and every fourth year we get reminded of that. Maybe we should remind ourselves more often.
Day 3: “The Candy House” by Jennifer Egan
This weekend I’ve been obsessed with The Candy House, the latest book by Jennifer Egan. Egan has a knack for peering into the not-too-distant future and showing you a world that has been altered by technology. Her riffs are plausible but not inevitable, which is what makes them so fascinating, compelling, and disturbing.
Day 2: Celebrating with the Savannah Bananas!
Celebrating the holiday weekend with that great baseball disruption sensation, the Savannah Bananas
